My Philosophy:

I work from a framework of compassion, resiliency, and strength. I believe that each individual has core capacities to create change and work through life adjustments that can bring about stress. I strive to create a therapeutic environment of safety and trust that can empower each individual, couple, and family, and foster growth and change.

My Experience:

I am trained in couples and family therapy, attachment, early childhood and development, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), trauma-informed therapy, complex trauma, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment, and have completed the Oregon's Adoption and Foster Family Therapy Program through the Department of Human Services in Oregon.

 Theoretical Orientation:

As a therapist I use an eclectic therapy style that incorporates structural, trauma-focused, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), solution-focused therapy, as well as, relational and family systems perspectives. Family systems look at the individual within the context of a relationship, family system, culture, and environment; rather than as an individual separate from the family or environment. Throughout my career I have relied heavily on DBT therapy in my work with clients that have experienced significant trauma, loss, anxiety, or distress in their lives.

Formal Education and Supervision:

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists. I hold a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Pacific Lutheran University, and a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from the University of Oregon. I am able to provide clinical supervision to Professional Counselors (PC) and Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) Registered Interns within the state of Oregon.

Professional Affiliations:

As a therapist licensed with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists, I will abide by its Code of Ethics. I am required to participate in annual continuing education, taking courses dealing with subjects relevant to this profession, and learning the most up-to-date methods of treatment of mental health issues
